Lapband Surgeons in LA area
Hello Cali-
After all of the test and anxiety I have been approved and have a surgery date of Jan. 11th
! However since my approval I have been informed of a $1,100 fee for a surgical assistant that is not in my PPO network and now I am getting bills from my ins. provider.
I have Atena BC/BS. Everyone I know with the exact same provider have had not out of pocket expense except for co-pays... Although I like the surgeon, I hate that I feel like I am being set up for more expense. Does anyone have any referrals for a lapband surgeon in the LA area?.

I also had Korman as my surgeon, and would hate to see you find another doc because of money............i don't understand however, you are being charged 1,100 dollars for a out of network assistant that you haven't used yet???? why not bring this up with Korman and have them use a assistant that is in your network, i also had an assiatant surgeon for my operation, who helped Korman take my gallbladder out, i was initially charged 1,300 dollars after surgery. when i called Aetna(HMO)....to inquire they dismissed 700 dollars immediately, and payed the balance other than a 30dollar co-pay.........i don't understand why you are being forced to use that assistant when there is plenty of time to use one that is in your network..........Korman is a great doc and has a terrific program........try and stay with him if u can.........good luck
Most doctors that do RNY also do lapband. The doctor that I know off hand that does it is Dr. Owens. He had done a few on this board. I would also take the advise that Ken gave you too, I think I have the name right, the guy who posted before me, and call and talk to the doctor and call your insurance company. I have always had open dialog with my insurance company and found them to me very accommodating. Good luck, Diane
